Business BTEC Level 2 First Award at Stockley Academy

Course description

This course gives students an ideal stepping stone for further study or the world of work. Internal assessment allows students to develop knowledge in finance, enterprise and customer service.

Course content

You will be introduced to business fundamentals, consisting of in-depth studies of various topics, ranging from enterprise/entrepreneurial behaviour to finance for business. Most students studying Business in the past have successfully gone on to further study or employment, gaining apprenticeships or full time work.

1 Year Course – Equivalent to 1 GCSE

Externally Assessed Unit (examined on screen):

Unit 2 Finance for Business – 25%, In this unit, students explore types of costs that a business might incur, how they plan and manage their finances leading to more complicated financial models such as break-even analysis. This is the only unit which is an externally examined on-screen examination.

Internally Assessed Units (coursework):

Unit 1 Enterprise in the Business World – 25%, This unit introduces students to the language and terminology used in business. It explores what businesses do, trends that affect them, how they operate and the factors that influence their success.

Unit 4 Principles of Customer Service – 25%, This unit introduces students to customer service. In this unit students will learn what makes excellent customer service and will be given the opportunity to demonstrate customer service skills.

Entry requirements

Minimum 4 GCSEs at grade E and above.

Future opportunities

This course comprises of three coursework units and one examination, all equally split at 25% each.
