Painting & Decorating Level 2 at Craven College

Course description

Give yourself the advantage with this valuable introduction to the world of painting and decorating, building upon existing knowledge and skills.

If you love working in a practical environment but also want to work creatively, this could be the Diploma qualification for you. Study topics from producing drawn plans, specialist decorative effects, stippling & sponging and much more.

Painting and decorating students have access to purpose made booths for training and assessment with specialist industry standard equipment. Our tutors are specialist craftspeople and have many year’s experience in the construction industry in both large and small businesses with specialisms in heritage and conservation work. You will have the opportunity to enter the prestigious CITB Skill Build competition. All tools, equipment and materials are provided.

Course content

  • Apply paint materials
  • Apply paint systems using airless spray equipment
  • Ensure good working relationships
  • Erect & dismantle access equipment
  • Hang standard wallpapers
  • Produce basic specialist decorative effects
  • Produce drawn information eg plans
  • Rag rolling
  • Stippling & sponging
  • Use information & communicate effectively

Entry requirements

Painting & Decorating Level 1 including English & maths GCSEs 9-2 (A*-E)
