Media Level 3 at Craven College

Course description

If you are aiming for a career as a multimedia specialist, television/film/video producer, broadcast/magazine journalist, editorial assistant or games designer, then our Level 3 (A Level equivalent) courses coupled with fantastic resources including our own fully functioning live TV studio with a vision mixer and Craven College radio station will give you a head start.

We believe that by coming to Craven College to study media at level 3, you put yourself at an advantage whether you want to go to university or straight into a job. Why? You will have been using industry standard technology including broadcast quality HD cameras, tracking, mobile lighting kits, auto-cue and mobile vision mixing facilities, giving you the experience of a professional moving image production. There is a well-equipped industry standard MAC video editing suite with CS6, fully operational radio station, audio editing and production software and the crowning glory – a live TV studio with vision mixer. You will also be taught by our professional tutors who have specialisms in TV and radio broadcasting, factual production and broadcast journalism, something which is hard to find elsewhere.

Practical modules such as making media representations, digital media skills, how to put together a media campaign, camera techniques, broadcast techniques and production will form part of your course allowing you to conduct an investigation in your 2nd year in a specialist area of your choice.

5 GCSEs 9-4 (A*-C) or Media Level 2 (Merit/Distinction) including English & maths GCSEs 9-4 (A*-C)
