Mathematics A Level at Craven College

Course description

A Level Mathematics encourages you to think logically and to evaluate alternative ways of solving problems. It is challenging and fulfilling for those wanting a good preparation in logical processes, both concrete and abstract, rigour of argument and problem solving.

Mathematics A Level study provides you with an understanding of mathematics and mathematical processes, which you can apply to different, complex and ‘real-world’ problems. Understanding progression in mathematics helps you see how different areas of mathematics are connected and gives you the ability to reason logically and generalise, hence construct mathematical proofs. It will develop your awareness of the relevance of mathematics to other fields of study, to the world of work and to society in general and allow you to take responsibility for your own learning and to evaluate your own mathematical development.
