Horticulture Skills Diploma Level 2 at South & City College Birmingham

Course description

Focussing upon the fundamental practical skills in horticulture, the learner will be able to learn skills such as planting out, preparing ground, pruning, using a mower, maintaining turf or constructing a path. This qualification is aimed at you if you are looking to start a career within the horticultural industry.This is a very practical qualification and focuses on the skills necessary to progress into a career in Landscaping/Horticulture.

Entry requirements

You will need to attend an interview. There are no prior qualifications needed.Work will be carried out on and off the college site. The course is essentially hands -on you need to be physically fit and prepared to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Learners will be continuously assessed throughout the course this will involve both practical and theoretical aspects to enable the learner to complete unit assessments on-line and practical assessments at the end of each unit.16-19 year old learners are also required to attend English and maths lessons either as a Functional Skill or GCSE unless they are exempt and have previously attained a GCSE grade A-C. They are also required to attend tutorial sessions which provides a full learning experience and contributes to the Study Programme Framework.
