Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) at Bexhill College

Course description

The Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) allows students to extend their abilities beyond the A Level syllabus and prepare for university or their future career. It is worth half an A Level (28 UCAS points) so can be used to earn extra UCAS points.

Course content

The EPQ requires students to carry out research on a topic that they have chosen and is not covered by their other qualifications. They then use this research to produce a written report. In some cases a practical project can be undertaken.
A student can take inspiration from something studied in class or something completely unrelated to their studies.
Delivery of the Extended Project Qualification in centres will involve some teaching of the necessary skills, supervision and assessment of the students' progress. It will involve extended autonomous work by the student.

Entry requirements

At Least 4-5 GCSEs Graded 9-4 Or A*-C Including English Or Maths At Grade C/4 Or Above.

Students are required, with appropriate supervision, to:
• Chose an area of interest
• Draft a title and aims of the project for formal approval by the centre
• Plan, research and carry out the project
• Deliver a presentation to a non-specialist audience
• Provide evidence of all stages of project development and production for assessment

Financial information
