Physics A Level at Hessle High School and Sixth Form College

Course description

Physics is the most fundamental of the sciences and its ideas and principals are the foundations for all other science subjects. This course offers a broad vision of physics as it is today. The units studied are:

  • Development of Practical Skills in Physics
  • Fundamental Data Analysis
  • Physics in Action
  • Understanding Processes
  • Rise and Fall of the Clockwork Universe
  • Field and Particle Physics

Following on from your GCSE studies you will explore the subject and its uses in the modern world. You will cover the fundamentals of waves, electricity and mechanics and look at the variety of phenomena in a practical and in-depth way.

Entry requirements

A minimum of five GCSEs at a Pass Grade are required.

Future opportunities

You could go on to university to study physics or a related subject such as astronomy, engineering, IT or medicine.
