Supported Internships Developing Skills for the Workplace at Cambridge Regional College
Supported Internships at Cambridge Regional College gives learners aged 16-24 with moderate learning difficulties (or an EHCP) the opportunity to learn skills in the workplace. It is a full time (3 days a week) programme. You may spend up to 2 days a week of your programme at on-the-job training and completing a portfolio of work/employability skills training. In addition you will spend one day at CRC developing your Maths, English and I.T. skills.
Students choose an area of vocational interest to participate in work experience e.g.
Students will also receive training in the following subjects:
Health and Safety at work
How business works
Career planning/job search skills
Self Management Skills
There are no formal entry requirements but students will need to able to work towards employability qualifications at Entry Level 3 or Level 1, be interested in on-the-job training and be prepared to accept a period of paid employment if offered on completing the course. All potential students will be offered a taster day and an informal interview. In addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview.
We are committed to providing financial support to learners where it is available. We would actively encourage you to enquire about possible financial support as soon as you can.
