Accounting A Level at St Edward's Church of England School & Sixth Form College
You will develop knowledge and understanding of the accounting information system, accounting procedures, techniques and concepts; the role and limitations of accounting in decision-making.
The course makes candidates aware of the effects of economic, legal and technological change in accounting, and of the social implications of accounting decisions, You will acquire a range of skills in decision-making and problem-solving.
You will need to understand the main features of published accounts of limited companies.
The course requires students to be aware of the different structures of final accounts for sole traders, partnerships, limited companies, manufacturing organisations and non-profit organisations.
You will develop an understanding of how accounting can provide valuable information for measuring and monitoring business performance, and for planning and decision-making.
It is expected that students should have achieved at least a GCSE grade 6 Maths and feel comfortable working with figures. No prior knowledge of Accounting is required although a GCSE in Business Studies would be helpful and if studied should be at grade B.

Unit 1 - Introduction to Financial Accounting
Unit 2 - Financial and Management Accounting
Unit 3 - Further Aspects of Financial Accounting
Unit 4 - Further Aspects of Management Accounting
- Follow a degree course in Accounting Economics, Business Studies, Politics or other Humanities.
- Take an HND course in a Business/ Finance related area
- Take professional qualifications in Accounting
- Enter employment in accounting, banking and finance, insurance, local government or business related careers.
