Level 2 OCR Cambridge Technical Certificate/Extended Certificate/Diploma in IT at Cambridge Regional College

Course description

This Study Programme is ideal if you would like to learn about how a computer works, how to design and build a website, understand security systems, put together simple computer networks and create and customise business documents. If necessary, you will also study maths and English and complete relevant work experience.

Entry requirements

2 GCSEs at 3 - 2 (D - E)
Successful completion of a Level 1 course
Equivalent experienceIn addition to the entry qualifications listed, the offer of a place on the course is subject to the outcomes of initial assessment, which will be taken at the College as part of the admissions process. Please note that entry criteria may vary quite significantly between courses at the same level. This is to take account of the specific skills needed for success on particular courses, the length of the course and the requirements for progression to the next level. Entry criteria are given as a guide, and the exact requirements in order to obtain a place on a particular course will be confirmed following attendance at a Welcome Event/Interview.


You will have assignments to assess your understanding of the Study Programme, each Study Programme subject will have two or three assignments and you will pass the Study Programme by successfully completing all of them. The assignments are based on real world tasks you would encounter in the computing sector

Future opportunities

After successful completion of the Study Programme you can progress onto the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Information Technology. You can also look for employment as a junior networking technician or within computer sales, systems support or media authoring.
