Engineering Level 2 BTEC First Diploma at East Sussex College
This course has been designed to give new entrants to the engineering sector the underpinning knowledge and specific skills needed to meet the needs of modern engineering. On this course you will study a wide range of units, which will provide opportunities for you to progress. Units include safe working in engineering and mathematics for engineering technicians. The course also includes units relating to computer design, electrical and electronics’, machining, welding and fabrication.
You will need to meet our standard entry requirements.
You will need at least GCSE English Language, Maths and a Science grade D/3, plus one other GCSE grade D/3.
You will be mostly assessed by completion of a series of assignments. Two units is assessed by means of an exam. You can achieve grades at Pass, Merit and Distinction.
Students who achieve an overall Merit grade can progress to the Engineering Level 3 BTEC Foundation Diploma, subject to interview. Employers also recognise and value BTEC qualifications and this course can prepare you for progression into an apprenticeship in engineering.
To progress on this course, and to go further in training or at work, it’s essential to have good English and Maths alongside vocational expertise. All students who have not yet achieved a GCSE in Maths or English (grades A*-C) will continue to study these subjects as a compulsory part of their programme and progression to level 3 Foundation Diploma.
