Sport BTEC L3 National Extended Diploma at Sussex Downs College

Course description

Study: This qualification consists of 4 units, 3 mandatory units and 1 specialist units and has the academic equivalence of one A Level. The course units for study are;1) Anatomy and Physiology related to Fitness – Examined (M)2) Fitness Training and Programming – Externally Assessed Task (M)3) Professional Development in the Sports Industry (M)4) Practical Sports PerformanceYou will produce 3 or 4 assignments for each unit.

Entry requirements

You will need to meet our standard entry requirements.

You will need at least GCSE English Language and Maths grade C/4 and a Science grade C/4 (if taken).

Assessment

You will be assessed on a continuous assessment basis with assignments at specific times throughout the year. Assessment methods include essay writing, presentations and practical observations.

Future opportunities

Students may wish to progress to year 2 to complete the Level 3 Diploma in Performance and Excellence. To do so you must achieve the Extended Certificate.

Further information

The course will make up part of a full time programme with students studying approximately 11 hours each week. This will be timetabled over 3 or 4 days. The course is the equivalent to one A-level and can be studied alongside other A-Levels as well as other qualifications such as the Community Sports Leaders Award. Students gaining entry onto the course without a GCSE 'C' grade in Maths will be required to study this alongside this course.
