Dance A Level Y1 at East Sussex College

Course description

This contemporary dance course will help you build your practical skills in both dance technique and choreography. The course also explores anatomy and physiology and dance analysis which will provide you with a solid understanding of the theory and practise of contemporary dance. You must demonstrate a real ability and interest in contemporary dance. The course will require to take part in physically active practical sessions and solo dance performances.This course works well alongside other A levels as part of an A level programme.

Entry requirements

You will need to meet our standard entry requirements.

You will need at least GCSE English Language grade B/6.


Assessment is based on practical coursework, performances and written examinations

Future opportunities

This course can lead on to full-time professional dance training at the London School of Contemporary Dance, the Laban Centre, Northern School of Contemporary Dance and a range of universities.

Further information

Students are expected to work outside of the class time to extend their learning. Space for this additional work is provided at the college 5 days a week.
