Employability and Personal Development at Leicester College

Course description

You will have the opportunity to improve skills necessary for independent living, healthy lifestyles, personal finance, and work skills. You will be given the opportunity to develop your maths and English as you work towards recognised qualifications. You will also be able to take part in enrichment activities and volunteering experiences to help you to develop work skills for the future.

Course content

Through work skills you will have the opportunity to improve your knowledge in areas such as interview skills, communication in the work place, working in a team and problem solving skills. You will take part in our work experience programme where you will start to make decisions about future work outcomes. You will complete a work experience diary which will include references from your placements.

Entry requirements

You will not need formal qualifications to apply but we will need to meet with you for an interview where we can talk about the course. At the interview you will need to bring a reference and show at least 90% attendance.

Material fee £100.00.

Future opportunities

In the second term you and your family or carers will be invited to attend a review where you will be able to discuss your future plans. You will be apply to vocational courses within the college or work-based courses within supported learning. You will be given careers guidance to help you to know what to apply for and given the opportunity to practice interview skills ready for your next step.

You will then be invited in to enrol for your chosen course of study. You will also be able to meet your tutors, learn more about your chosen course of study and tour the facilities. You will then need to confirm your acceptance of the course offered to you.
