MATHEMATICS AS/A2 (OCR) at Royds School

Course description

Mathematics AS Level and A Level contains a mixture of Core and Applied Mathematics.  At Royds we will be following the new AQA specifications.

Through solving problems you will develop resilience and be able to think creatively and strategically.  Excellent numeracy skills and the ability to process and interpret data using both written and computer based skills.

It is usually possible to offer Further Maths during the course of the two years.  This would involve studying additional modules to the main A Level.  More information will be provided at the start of Year 12.

Course content

AS Level: Core content including building skills in core content including algebra and trigonometry.  Also developing and introducing the areas of maths within statistics and mechanics.

A Level: This has a larger content than the AS Level but contains the same structure of core, statistics and mechanics A Level.  It enables pupils to apply their skills and knowledge further.
