Health and Social Care (BTEC) Level 3 Extended Certificate at Rivington and Blackrod High School and Sixth Form
This qualification is designed for learners preparing for roles in health and social care, for example health care assistant, support worker as well as further study on a vocational degree including Social work; Nursing; Occupational Health, Early years, teaching etc. It is designed to be the substantive part of a 16-19 study programme for learners who want a strong core of sector study and a focus on health and social care.
The Health & Social Care BTEC (Single Award) is made up of 4 units.
3 of these units are mandatory and 1 is optional.
5 GCSEs Grade 4 or above OR a BTEC level 2 qualification in Health and Social care or a related area.
Assessment for the course is by coursework during the 2 years and 2 exams at the end of the 2 years.
The Health and Social Care (BTEC) Level 3 Extended Certificate is the equivalent of 1 A Level.
On successful completion of a BTEC National qualification learners can progress into or within employment and/or continue their study in the same vocational area. Careers may include social work, nursing and residential care management.
