Financial Studies IFA Level 3 at John Cabot Academy

The financially-related content from studying this course serves as a strong grounding for undergraduate study within finance and business-related disciplines, with many students going on to study accounting, business, finance and banking. The skills developed and enhanced during the course provide valuable study skills appropriate for these disciplines and others, and students have pursued a wide range of other undergraduate courses following this qualification.
Year 1 Certificate in Financial Studies:
Unit 1: Financial Capability for the Immediate and Short Term
Unit 2: Financial Capability for the Medium and Long Term
Assessment: For each unit the assessment is an external exam: 45minute multiple-choice questions. 1 hour 45 minute pre-release case study requiring essay responses to five questions, spelling, punctuation and grammar to be marked through the essay responses.
Year 2 Diploma in Financial Studies:
Unit 3: Sustainability of an Individual’s Finances
Unit 4: Sustainability and the Financial Services System
Assessment: For each unit the assessment is an external exam: 1 hour multiple-choice questions. 2 hour pre-release case study requiring essay responses to five questions, spelling, punctuation and grammar to be marked through the essay responses.
GCSE Maths and English grade C or above.
Both units are assessed through an external exam.
BSc (Hons): Banking Practice and Management; Finance and Accounting for Financial Services; Finance, investment and Risk; Business, Enterprise and Finance; Politics, Finance and Economics
Business and financial sectors.
