Bootroom Academies Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport and Physical Activity at Rivington and Blackrod High School and Sixth Form

Course description

This is a unique opportunity to enrol onto this Bootroom Academies Programme. Students will be able to progress onto Employment or University with this Level 3 Extended Diploma qualification. All students will receive regular work experience opportunities which will really enhance the students’ CV and develop their personal skills. Students will complete a range of units throughout the 2 year course (see below).

Our students will gain a valuable insight into the Sports Industry, including Coaching, Health & Fitness, Nutrition and Sports Analysis.

All of our students are also mentored on their work experience by Roy Evans (ex Liverpool Manager) & Steve McMahon (ex international football player) as well as by our professional coaches. The work expereince will be centred on primary schools in the area, coaching 5-11 year olds boys and girls. This work experience is fully embedded into the students’ timetable as a part of their studies.

The course has no external Exams – all assessments are coursework based

The course carries UCAs pionts as folows

D* - 168 (equivalent to three grade A*s at A level)

D – 144 (equivalent to three grade As at A level)

M – 96 (equivalent to three grade Cs at A level)

P - 48(equivalent to three grade Es at A level)

Entry requirements

No specific entry requirements

All applications are subject to an interview to demonstrate your suitability for the course.

Assessment

All coursework assessed with no final exam

Equivalent in size to three  A Levels. Carrying equivalent UCAS points 

Future opportunities

This qualification will give you the opportunity to gain employment or to progress to
university and higher education.
 
This could enable you to develop a future career in vocations including: PE teaching, sports coaching, sports development, physiotherapy,
sports management and sports journalism.
