Classical Civilization A Level at Waingels College

Course description

A Level Classical Civilisation is the study of Ancient Civilisations through; Art, Literature, Philosophy, Politics, Law, Archaeology and History. It will help enhance your critical and evaluation skills through source examination and understanding of good analytical methods. It allows for a deeper understanding of the development of the Western world through looking at the classical contexts from which society originated. Classical Civilisation appears on the ‘A-List’ of desired Arts A-level subjects recommended by Trinity College, Cambridge and the University of Oxford.

Entry requirements

Standard entry requirements, plus a Grade 5 in English Language/Literature & a B grade in one of the following subjects: RS, History, or Psychology.

Assessment

Exam (100%) – 4 x 1hr 30min papers

Future opportunities

Students go on to study Classics, Philosophy, Law, Politics, History, Journalism, Drama and much more.
