Geography A Level at Waingels College

Course description

This new course offers the perfect environment for students to develop an awareness of the patterns, processes and relationships that characterise the physical and human environment. We look at a wide range of topics including Coastal Landscapes, The Nature of Changing Places, Global Migration, Disease Dilemmas, Life Support Systems, The Idea of Power and Sovereignty and Our Hazardous Earth. Geography is traditionally seen as a bridge between the Sciences and the Arts and is an excellent choice for students who want to keep their options open. It is considered a facilitating subject by the Russell Group of Universities.

Entry requirements

Standard entry requirements, plus a Grade 5 in English Literature or Language & a B grade in Geography.


Exam (80%), Independent Investigation (20%)

Future opportunities

Students go on to study a vast range of subjects including, but not limited to, Physical and/or Human Geography, Geology, Environmental Science and International Development.
