Mathematics A Level at Waingels College

Course description

The A Level Mathematics course is split into a 2:1 ratio of pure and applied content. Pure topics covered include Proof, Coordinate Geometry, Trigonometry and Calculus. In the Applied section, the topics covered are Data Presentation and Interpretation, Probability, Statistical Distributions, Hypothesis Testing, alongside Kinematics and Newton’s Laws. This course is perfect for students who enjoyed Mathematics at GCSE and is also recommended for students electing to take A Levels in a Science subject or Economics. An AS qualification can be taken in Year 12.

Entry requirements

Standard entry requirements, plus a Grade 6 in Mathematics at GCSE.


Exam (100%) External Assessment

Future opportunities

Students have gone on to study Mathematics at University, as well other disciplines including Sciences, Economics, Computer Science and Geography.
