Science - BTEC Diploma in Applied Science level 1 at Kirklees College, Huddersfield Centre

Course description

The course will maximise your opportunity to progress by focusing on the development of transferable skills, increasing your science knowledge and introducing you to practical techniques.

Course content

You will study four mandatory units:

• Being organised

• Developing a personal progression plan

• Working with others

• Researching a topic

Optional units of study includes:

• Carrying out a scientific experiment

• Investigating variations in plants and animals

• Measuring waves used in technology

• Practical actions to protect the environment

Entry requirements

A minimum of 4 GCSEs with the following grades: English at grade 2 and maths at grade 1 or above, and 2 other GCSEs grade 2 or above including a science subject.

• Practical assessments

Future opportunities

Level 2 Applied Science/Health and Social Care or Childhood Studies.
