Professional Cookery - Level 2 (Diploma) at College of West Anglia

Course description

If you are interested in working as chef within the hospitality industry, this course will provide you with the skills and experience needed to gain employment, and is an excellent preparation for working in the industry. It is a busy and practical course with real working experience in our own Novus Restaurant and kitchens. Whilst working towards this diploma students will be able to develop skills in many areas including: - How to prepare and cook industry standard dishes - Food safety - Food and drink service - Customer service skills - Legislation - How to work in a team (essential in any busy kitchen)

Entry requirements

You will need 4 or more GCSEs at grade 3 or higher, including English, maths or catering, or a relevant level 1 qualification.If you are aged 19 or older, relevant industry experience may be accepted.You will be invited to an interview to help us ensure the course is right for you.


Progress on the course is measured through a number of written assignments and short answer tests. Students will also have practical assessments. This qualification will be graded pass/merit/distinction.

If you are under 19 on 31st August in the year you begin your programme, you will not have to pay a course fee; however, there may be additional resources fees and fees for materials, kits and trips. Please visit our website for full details.
