Computing and IT OCR Level 2 Diploma at North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College
This is a practical hands on course based in purpose built labs within the college.You will learn all the elements that a real IT Support Technician needs to know to do their job. The course covers troubleshooting PC problems and replacing faulty PC components. Installing and configuring different operating systems and software that is found on modern computer systems. You will also learn software applications including web design, spreadsheet modelling and programming.
The units you will be studying include:• Communication in IT (Mandatory)• Working in IT (Mandatory)• Hardware• Computer Systems• Spreadsheet Modelling• Programming• Website DevelopmentYou will also complete a programme of Functional Skills or GCSEs in English and Maths. English and maths skills are an essential requirement for employment progression, higher education and other further education courses.
You will require one of the following:• 4 GCSE Grade D• Level 1 Diploma in Progression (IT/Media) or an equivalent qualificationThis is ideally suited for those students who have a passion for working with IT.
All units are assessed through assignment work either individually or in groups. There are no exams. All assessments will be graded as either Pass, Merit or Distinction.

At SLC:Upon completion of this course you can progress onto the BTEC Extended Diploma in IT - Level 3.
You will achieve an OCR Diploma in Information Technology at Level 2.
