Maintenance Operations (Construction) City and Guilds Level 1 Diploma at North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College
This course is designed to give students an insight into basic construction skills. Students will undertake various disciplines including Bricklaying, Carpentry, Painting & Decorating, Wall & Floor Tiling, Guttering, Rendering and Plastering. This is a route into a maintenance occupation Level 2 programme, Apprenticeship or into a trade specific course such as Brickwork or Carpentry.
Students will work on various units and complete both practical and theoretical work in Bricklaying, Carpentry, Painting & Decorating, Wall & Floor Tiling, Guttering, Plastering and Health & Safety. As part of this study programme students are also required to attend Maths and English Functional Skills lessons and participate in weekly tutorials
Entry requirements are ideally GCSE at Grade D or above and through Initial Diagnostic Assessment. Learners will also have to attend an interview with a member of the Construction team.
You will be assessed carrying out a number of practical tasks in the workshop; there will also be in-class verbal and written assessments and a number of online tests for all of your study programme elements (including English and Maths).
Students will require stationery equipment, details of which will be given by the tutor. Suitable safety footwear and overalls along with items of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

On successful completion of our course including English and Maths your next step will be to progress onto a trade specific Brick or Wood Level 1 Diploma or Level 2 Diploma in Maintenance Operations. This will be in addition to having shown a high level of commitment, effort, positive attitude along with good attendance throughout year 1.
You will be required to attend 3 days per week as this is a full-time course. It is compulsory for you to attend all sessions including English and Maths Functional Skills. A minimum of 95% attendance is required to sucessfully complete this course.
