Engineering Level 3 Diploma at North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College

Course description

This qualification broadens and expands the specialist work-related focus of the Level 3 Diploma and encompasses the essential skills, knowledge and understanding needed to gain confidence and progression. There is potential for the qualification to prepare learners for progression within education or into employment in the appropriate vocational sector and it is suitable for those who have decided that they wish to study in detail or work in a particular area of work.

Course content

You will study one mandatory unit, one specialist mandatory unit and seven specialist units (accumulating 90 credits) all of which must be passed to obtain the qualification. Mandatory unit: Health and Safety in the Engineering Workplace Specialist mandatory unit: Electrical and Electronic Principles Specialist units: Mathematics for engineering operations Mechanical principles and applications Engineering Design Principles and applications or electronic devices and circuit.

Entry requirements

5 GCSE's grade C or above including maths and English.

Assessment

All the units are assessed by course assignments which meet BTEC grading criteria for Pass, Merit and Distinction.

Financial information

General stationary including pens, paper, folders, plastic wallets and a calculator. H&S equipment will also be required including steel toe capped boots and overalls.

This could be help with the cost of travel, books, materials, equipment, uniforms, childcare and examination and registration fees. Future opportunities

After successful completion of this course you may transfer onto the 2nd year of the Level 3 Diploma in Engineering 180 credits) and then you may go to into higher education or into a specialist area of employment.
