Public Services (Uniformed) Level 1 Diploma at North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College

Course description

This is a one year full-time course for school leavers interested in a career in any uniformed service, eg Army, Navy, RAF, Prison/Probation Service, Fire or Police.

Course content

Students will study the following areas/units on this course: Investigate Employment Opportunities in the Uniformed Services; Well-being and Physical Fitness; Develop Team Working Skills; Self-Discipline and Development; Carry Out Essential Map Reading and Navigation; Health, Safety and Emergency Care; Participate in Competitive Sports; Participate in Adventurous Outdoor Activities.

GCSE grades between E-G

Assessment

The course is assessed through a variety of methods, and is designed to give you a working knowledge of the Public Services.

You will need indoor and outdoor sports kit/footwear

We offer a bursary that students can apply for help with costs that are associated with a course. This could be help with the cost of travel, books, materials, equipment, uniforms, childcare and examination and registration fees. Future opportunities

NCFE Level 1 Diploma course is a nationally recognised qualification, designed to give learners a good understanding of the working practices of and skills and aptitudes required by all of the main Public Services. Following this programme you may wish to seek employment, or progress onto a BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Public Services course.
