Barbering and Hairdressing City and Guilds Level 2 at North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College

Course description

This is a full-time intensive one year programme for learners wishing to become skilled in a variety of nationally-recognised specialisms. You will need to show good communication skills and confidence when meeting new people.

Course content

The majority of work during this course is of a practical nature and will allow you to progress your skills in practical salon environments with continual supervision, support and assessment. In addition to your main qualification, you will develop skills in client care and communication and health & safety. You will also acquire skills in cutting, setting, blow drying, long hair work, perming and colouring. A qualification in Functional Skills will also be required.

4 GCSEs grade D or above

Assessment

Assessment is ongoing, allowing you to learn at your own pace and achieve a high level of competency. You will be assessed by observation and on-line tests.

Financial information

You will need to have the required materials and equipment in order to successfully complete this qualification. We advise that you purchase the specialised kit with us, order forms are provided upon a successful interview.

We offer a bursary that students can apply for help with costs that are associated with a course. This could be help with the cost of travel, books, materials, equipment, uniforms, childcare and examination and registration fees. Future opportunities

Upon completion you will be advised of your progression opportunities which can include: VRQ level 2 in Barbering, VRQ or NVQ Level 3 in Hairdressing or NVQ or VRQ in Beauty Therapy.

Further information

One year, full-time, approx 3 days a week (dependant on timetables)A minimum of 95% attendance is required.
