Art & Design Level 3/4 Foundation Diploma at North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College

Course description

The Foundation course is a pre-degree course for individuals who are interested in creative subjects including: Fine Art, Graphic and 2D Design, Photography, Fashion and Textiles along with other creative subjects. The course is a one year route to gain entry to a creative degree or employment within the creative industries.

Course content

On this course you are able to try out a wide range of creative subjects to allow you to decide what subject you would like to specialise in during the later part of the year. You will be able to explore subjects including: Fine Art, Drawing Development, Graphic Design, Illustration, Photography, Digital Media, Filmmaking, Animation, Fashion and Textiles. After exploring a range of creative approaches you are then able to specialise to allow you to produce a portfolio of Art & Design work.

Entry requirements

Students will usually be 18 or over and will be interviewed to assess suitability for the course, students should bring examples of their own creative work along to interview. Mature learners will be considered through discussion at interview.

Assessment

Assessment is carried out throughout the year based on units and a final self-initiated project at the end of the course.

Financial information

A range of art equipment is available to purchase at the shop located at the Hinckley Campus at cost price.

We offer a bursary that students can apply for help with costs that are associated with a course. This could be help with the cost of travel, books, materials, equipment, uniforms, childcare and examination and registration fees. Future opportunities

The Foundation course is a recognised route of entry to Higher Education (degree courses).The Foundation course can allow for entry to creative careers within your chosen specialist area (Photography, Graphic Design and Fine Art careers).
