Level 3 Bricklaying Advanced Apprenticeship at North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College

Course description

This is a work-based learning qualification that enables you to work as a specialist bricklayer in the construction industry. As a specialist bricklayer you will produce and maintain complex masonry structures.

Course content

Examples of units you may cover include:chimney stacks, tunnel linings and decorative stonework. You will also learn how to work safely in a supervisory capacity as part of a team building and refurbishing homes or non-domestic properties.

Entry requirements

To progress onto a Level 2 Apprenticeship you will need up to five GCSEs grade D-G, including a grade D in English and Maths*.

In order to start an Apprenticeship, you will need to be employed or find an employer who is recruiting an Apprentice.

Assessment

Your skills will be assessed by workplace observation, online tests, assignments and portfolio work. You will have a Progress Coach to visit you at work and support you throughout your qualification.

Future opportunities

This qualification prepares you for work in the construction industry, with a specific focus on wood occupations. Upon completion you can apply to CSCS, or other industry card schemes, to gain a skills card that will enable you to work on site in your chosen trade. If you wish to progress to become a supervisor working on site, you may wish to study any of the following qualifications: 601/1899/4 Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Supervision (Construction) 601/1792/8 Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Management (Construction)
