Computing and IT - BTEC in Information Systems and Networking at Kirklees College: Dewsbury Centre

Course description

Whilst learning to create systems and manage information, big data and business analytics, you will also aim to understand how networking fits in to the wider IT industry, work with servers, datacentres and the cloud and the know-how and practical skills to become a creative and resourceful information systems and network professional.

Course content

Using industry-standard and open-source network management solutions, you will also be able to apply techniques used in networks, get hands on with our industry-standard software, Ciscoequipped network laboratory and lay strong foundations for a successful career.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 5 GCSEs with the following grades: English 4 and maths at 3 or above, and 3 other GCSEs grade 4 or above.

Future opportunities

HNC Computing or Software Development (Level 4) or Apprenticeship in Software Developer (Level 4), Apprenticeship in Cyber Security Technologist (Level 4), Apprenticeship in Network Engineer (Level 4); or employment in the IT and computing industry, as a ICT practitioner, business/ information systems expert, systems engineer and developer, systems strategist, programmer, database developer, network engineer.
