Art and Design (Fine Art) A Level at St Francis Xavier 6th Form College (SFX College)

Course description

Fine Art A level is an exciting opportunity to explore the world of art and design, and to experiment and learn through the creative visual process. We support learners to become highly independent, creative and self-motivated individuals. You can expect to work with a broad range of media, including traditional techniques such as drawing, painting, printmaking and new media technologies, including digital photography and film.

In year one, the focus will be exploring ideas and developing skills through the creative process, learning from creative exploration and become visually literate and articulate. In addition to practical skills, and creative and visual learning, Fine Art A level fosters creative problem solving, independence, and engagement with historical and contemporary cultural, social and political issues. You have the opportunity, to explore, challenge and develop their own ideas and opinion. You will also make contextual links between your own work and that of other artists and designers.

We visit a range of exhibitions and workshops during the course.
