Health and Social Care BTEC Level 3 at St Francis Xavier 6th Form College (SFX College)
This course is a broad-based qualification designed to prepare students for a range of careers in Health & Social Care or for entry into Higher Education. A work placement is a mandatory requirement of the course.
In addition to our Programme Entry Requirements, applicants must also meet specific Course Entry Requirements:
Grade C in Maths and Grade C in Core Science preferred but not essential OR
BTEC Level 2 Diploma in a relevant Level 2 qualification with Distinction
Students are required to complete DBS process through the college, there is a fee to be paid during the enrolment. Students will also be expected to complete a minimum of 100 hours’ work experience at a Health and Social Care Setting.
Just under 60% of the course is assessed by coursework. Students also have to take external assessments and exams.
Achieving three Distinction grades is equivalent to three A grades at A level and is worth the same number of UCAS points.
Most students progress to university to follow a degree course in Midwifery, Paediatric, Adult or Mental health Nursing, Primary Teaching or Health and Social Care.
There are also a number of employment opportunities for students directly after the course.
