Sports Studies Btec Level 3 at Beaufort Co-operative Academy

Course description

The course covers a wide variety of topics related to sports and the sports industry. As a Level 3 course topics are studied and assessed in detail requiring in depth investigation and understanding. You will have to draw on knowledge learnt in Science and GCSE PE if you studied this subject. Practical participation and coaching in sport will be expected from everyone taking the course. Units of study : Anatomy and Physiology Fitness Training and Programming Professional development in the sports industry Sports Leadership Investigating Business in Sport Acquiring skill in sport Coaching for performance Development and provision of sport and physical activity.

Assessment

The new Level 3 Sports Studies courses are assessed in multiple ways. As previously some assignments are set and marked internally. Some tasks relating to units are now to be set and marked by Pearson. There will also be a written exam that will be set and marked by Pearson.

Future opportunities

When you have successfully completed your Level 3 BTEC Extended Certificate/Diploma you can progress to university to study a foundation or full honours degree. The level you are able to study at will be dependent on your overall achievement.
