'A' LEVEL MUSIC TECHNOLOGY at Selby College

Course description

As a student of our Edexcel A Level in Music Technology, you will focus on the techniques, practices and principles of music technology as an area of advanced study. You will learn about the technical principles that underpin music technology, develop a technical vocabulary, and you will be encouraged to use music technology as a tool to develop your composing and arranging skills.

Music Technology is an academically and practically challenging subject. If you are interested in Music and its development and use in popular culture, then this course is ideal.

It is not necessary to have studied Music or Music Technology previously, but if the subject was taken at school you should have achieved at least a Grade 4.

Course content

Aims to equip you with skills for higher education and beyond – our content is designed to develop a broad range of skills including project management, appraising and analysis, creativity and imagination.

Standard ‘A’ Level entry requirements apply.

Assessment

70% Exam, 30% Coursework

Future opportunities

On the completion of your course, you will be able to progress to undergraduate study in Music Technology, Sound Production, Sound Engineering and many other courses requiring a similar skill set.
