BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts (Production Arts) at Kingston College
Production Arts/Technical Theatre includes stage lighting, sound, video projection, stage management, set construction and special effects scenic painting, technical. The course also includes special effects makeup and prosthetic makeup, two highly sought-after unit that introduces learners to the exciting world of prosthetic special effects. Our students frequently work on productions, building their portfolios for the next stage of their professional careers.
The course is mainly based in the College’s two fully equipped theatres, the ACT and Studio 101, but also partly at The Questors Theatre (Europe's largest community theatre) where the set-building workshop, (as well as the large number of high-quality shows) provide additional training and show experience opportunities for students on the course. We actively seek out opportunities for students to work in a range of venues. These have included the Savoy (West End), Richmond Theatre, the Rose (Kingston), the Finborough (London). Students are offered the opportunity to work on professional productions with their tutors who are principally current industry professionals in production arts.

You will develop professional skills in all aspects of stage production: lighting, sound, stage management, set design, props, and special effects make up. The work is highly practical and work based; you will benefit from supporting the programme of internal and external events in our industry standard theatre. To ensure total work readiness there are also classes in related theory and business.

Four GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, BTEC Level 2 Diploma (Merit), or BTEC Level 2 Extended Certificate (Merit) plus one GCSE at grade C/4 or above, or equivalent. Profile to include GCSE English or Mathematics at grade C/4 or above.
Experience and competence at an appropriate level.
BA, HNC, HND or employment in the performing arts industry.
