Mathematics AS Level at Ashfield School

Course description

A-level Maths provides students with a thorough grounding in the mathematical tools and techniques often needed in the workplace. The logic and reasoning skills developed by studying A-level Maths make sure the qualification is widely respected even in non-mathematical arenas.

Entry requirements

Five A* to C or equivalent including 7 or above at Maths GCSE.


Paper 1 - Pure and Mechanics topics assessed, 90 minutes, 50% of AS

Paper 2 – Pure and Statistics topics assessed, 90 minutes, 50% of AS

Future opportunities

Career prospects are excellent, with the possibility of continuing your studies at University. Typical employment prospects include work in business, science, engineering and technologyrelated sectors, with maths graduates occupying roles such as accountant, actuary, statistician, technician, economist or market researcher. Starting salaries are generally much higher than the national average.
