Physics IGCSE at BSix Brooke House Sixth Form College

Course description

Physics is crucial to understanding the world around us, the world inside us and the world beyond us. From developing theories of the universe to developing sustainable energy solutions and from healing joints to curing cancer, Physics is the most basic and fundamental science that underpins all other sciences.

Physics iGCSE is an animated, lively course that is taught mostly through experimental exploration.

Course content

You will receive teaching on the foundation of the subject and will develop a good understanding of key topics such as heat, light, magnetism and electricity.

Future opportunities

A qualification in iGCSE Physics is a strong foundation for future progression onto many courses, including AS Levels in Maths and Physics, and the BTEC Extended Diploma in Applied Science. Students who continue to study at advanced level have the opportunity to join the Hackney University Extension (link) programme, in collaboration with our University partners, such as Clare College, Cambridge. The project aims to give students an insight into the world of higher education, to the rigours of university study and the admissions process. Students will benefit from a range of new skills, such as problem-solving and analysing. You will also develop an awareness of complex mathematical principles, which is the foundation to our physical understanding of the world.
