AS and A Level: Environmental Science at Loughborough College

Course description

A Level Environmental Science is a two-year course. Environmental Science is a holistic subject with many interconnected systems and processes. A change to one process can affect many other processes to different degrees. Consideration of environmental issues is based on evidence-based information and an understanding of how society works – student will develop an in-depth understanding of both of these approaches.

Year 1:

  • The Living Environment
  • The Physical Environment
  • Energy Resources

Year 2:

  • Pollution
  • Biological Resources
  • Sustainability
  • Research Methods



Assessment will be through two written exams of 3 hours each. There will be a combination of multiple choice, short answer and extended writing questions.

Entry requirements

GCSE English Language and Maths and two Sciences at grade 4
