IMI Level 3: Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Principles at Loughborough College

Course description

This practical qualification is aimed at people looking to go straight into industry upon completion. It's not assignment-based; however, students will need to undertake online tests throughout the course.

Course content

This Level 3 qualification covers the technical needs of today's motor vehicle repair industry, including the diagnosis of complex system faults and advanced systems operation.

It provides the essential knowledge to be a service technician working on light vehicles (cars and vans) in all types of garages, dealerships, and maintenance depots. This qualification is ideal for anyone looking to be a vehicle technician or MOT tester.

Entry requirements

  • A related Level 2 qualification, plus Functional Skills English and Maths at Level 2,
  • or
  • substantial prior attainment in the automotive industry.
  • You will also need to have a satisfactory reference from your previous course.
