Fine Art AS level at The Stourport High School and Sixth Form Centre

Course description

A level art consists of 50% coursework and 50% examination. Students study Fine Art which could include elements of:

  •  Painting and drawing
  •  Photography
  •  Mixed media
  •  Sculpture
  •  Instillations
  •  Printmaking

Course content

  •  Develop ideas through initial sources, observations and photographs
  •  Study the work of other professionals/ cultures
  •  Experiment with media, materials, techniques and processes.
  •  Record ‘highly developed’ ideas and observations
  •  Reflect on all work and make appropriate improvements
  •  Present purposeful response(s).

Assessment

Coursework:

One portfolio of work in year 12

One portfolio of work in year 13

Examinations:

One 5 hour exam in year 12

One 15 hour in year 13
