Progression - Inclusive Pathways at East Sussex College Hastings
We know that it can sometimes be difficult to reconnect with education and training. We put together our Inclusive Pathways programme to support and build the confidence of young people who want to make a commitment to progress onto mainstream college courses. We will work with you to develop a plan just for you and help you to improve your maths and english, if necessary.
The main focus will be to develop social, personal and work ethic skills. Students will have the opportunity to improve their expertise in these areas by studying Laser Leaning Awards (Units). There are 3 different levels:
Award, Extended Award and Introductory Certificate - learners ‘bank’ units of accreditation to achieve each level.
Units will be delivered in the following skill areas:
Sport & Fitness
Healthy Living - Researching and practising a healthy lifestyle, recognising the importance of personal hygiene, identifying contraception methods and common diseases that affect our health.
Participating in Leisure- Identify leisure activities in the community, costs and health and safety involved. The appropriate clothing and equipment necessary to participate recognise the benefits and take part in some leisure activities.
Understanding Diversity in Society – Understanding, awareness and recognition of diverse groups and practices.
Alcohol and Drug Misuse Awareness – Identifying and recognizing the different drugs and alcoholic beverages, the effects of using and impacts on health.
Understanding Young People, Law and Order – Researching and identifying the impact of crime on yourselves, others around you and the community.
General skills for Independent Living – Looking at budgeting and caring for yourself and your home.
Career Planning - Completing application forms, practising various interview techniques and researching / identifying personal career paths.
Employability - Identifying and understanding the need for health and safety in the work place. Work as part of a team and be aware of the social skills needed for employment.
This course gives students the opportunity to show thier commitment and enthusiasm towards improving their maths, english and life skills.
Recieving pastoral care, individual targets and teaching to meet their individual needs. Students can participate in educational visits, work experiance, taster sessions and enrichment activities.
£20 Kit, £50 Trips and visits
Continue on the Pathways programme to improve Maths and English to Entry 3 level. Progression onto mainstream courses is availible for some students and there are opportunities to participate in work placements in the college retail outlets. Progression onto Apprenticeships, Traineeship or Princes's Trust.
