Level 2 Intermediate Apprenticeship in Painting & Decorating at Henley College Coventry

Course description

The NVQ Level 2 painting and decorating is designed for anyone who wants to become qualified as a craftsman who already has a little bit of experience. It provides all the basic painting and decorating training you need to start work in the industry.

Subjects you may cover include:

• Erecting and dismantling access equipment and working platforms

• Preparing surfaces for decoration

• Applying paint systems by brush and roller

• Applying foundation and plain papers

• Producing specialist decorative finishes

• Applying and creating colour

At the end of the course, you will gain a qualification in NVQ Level 2 Painting and Decorating. You can then progress onto NVQ Level 3 Painting and Decorating. College attendance will be required for one day per week and you will receive regular workplace assessments in order to assess competency.

You will be required to sit a number of exams during the length of your programme and you will create a portfolio of evidence. You will also be required to sit functional skill Level 1 Maths and English if you do not have grades C or above.

Entry requirements

Grades D’s or above in Maths and English.
