Construction Level 1 and 2 Diploma at Ashfield School

Course description

These are one year courses in chosen trades such as Bricklaying or Carpentry. They concentrate on both practical skills and essential underpinning knowledge of construction technology and Health and Safety. The courses are recognised by industry and provide the skills necessary to achieve an NVQ qualification which, at level 2 are the minimum industry standard to be classed as ‘qualified’.

Although the qualifications are to enter the industry at craft level, they also provide a firm ‘foundation’ to enable progression to a career at a higher technical or management level.

Assessment

You are required to build a portfolio which includes evidence from:

  • Your practical skills being checked by assessor observation
  • Verbal questioning by your assessor
  • Completion of written tasks in training booklets
  • Written or online exams

Future opportunities

Sufficient skill levels and background knowledge to pursue work placement experience and NVQ qualification. Progression to a level 3 diploma which provides more advanced training including that of a supervisory and organisational nature to aid future progression to higher levels of employment within the industry.
