Level 2 Diploma for IT Professionals at Henley College Coventry

Course description

The Level 2 Diploma in Digital Technologies will provide many opportunities for you to develop invaluable skills not only demanded in a career in IT but also the chance to develop excellent communication/work skills that are transferable for many employment and apprenticeship progression routes.

This will provide opportunities for you to grasp a diverse study route in IT. The qualification is assessed through a combination of practical and written assignments. The qualification is graded at Pass, Merit, Distinction, and Distinction*.

Course content

You will cover two mandatory units and five specialist units listed below:

  • Communicating in the IT Industry
  • Working in the IT Industry
  • Computer Systems
  • Computer Graphics
  • Database Systems
  • Developing Programming Solutions
  • Setting up an IT Network

Specialist subjects may be subject to change.

This course is a Study Programme which consists of:

  • Vocational Qualification
  • Work Experience
  • Tutorial
  • Maths*
  • English*

*If you have not already achieved a GCSE pass at grade C or above (New grades = Grade 5 or above) in English and maths you will study Maths and/ or English as an integral part of your college programme.

Grading for GCSE English language, English literature and maths is changing from 2017, with other subjects following suit from 2018.

Entry requirements

4 GCSEs Grade D or above (New grades = Grade 4 including English and maths), or a Level 1 related qualification and GCSE/Level 1 in English and maths. A place on the course will be subject to a successful interview with the course organiser and a satisfactory reference
