Sport- Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma at Plumpton College

Course description

During this fantastic new course, you'll get to cover the organisation and administration side of sport, while at the same time learning how to plan and undertake a variety of sporting and adventurous activities.

Ideal if you're looking to go on to a career in sport, coaching or health and fitness, you'll get to develop your practical skills and build the knowledge you'll need for success in your future role. You'll be able to enjoy our excellent sporting facilities including our outdoor and indoor pitches, multi-gym and extensive grounds. Plus you'll also be able to extend your skills and contacts on your work placement.

Course content

Course content 

You can look forward to a varied programme of modules that includes a work placement. You'll also continue your English and Maths up to GCSE level. You'll enjoy a mixture of lectures, field trips, residential visits, practical sports and coaching activities. Modules include: 

 

  • Anatomy and physiology
  • Sport leadership
  • Coaching for sports performance
  • Sports psychology
  • Fitness training in health, sport and wellbeing

Entry requirements

Either: 

 

  • You'll need to have achieved 4 GCSEs between grade A-C (new grades 9-4) including English, Maths and a Science 
  • Successful completion of a Level 2 course with a Merit in a related area 
  • Mature students without the above requirements will be considered.

Tuition Fee:

  • 16-18 exempt

Assessment Fee:

  • 16-18 exempt

Facility Fee:

  • Cost for day students- £120 per year
  • Cost for residential students- £200 per year

The facility fee is applicable to all our full time FE students and this is paid annually before you arrive for your enrolment and induction. This fee assists in providing non-educational facilities which include security, sports amenities, membership of the Sports and Social Club, minibuses, Wi Fi access, television room, on-site medical support and free car parking subject to availability.

    • The main Plumpton College site is located at the foot of the picturesque South Downs National Park. Six miles from Lewes, the County Town of East Sussex.

      The College specialises in providing a wide range of land-based courses in partnership with schools, for those in further education and for those in higher education. The College degree courses are validated by the University of Brighton.

      The range of courses cover all land-based provision including Agriculture, Horticulture, Floristry, Equine, Agricultural and Horticultural Machinery, Metalsmithing, Animal Care, Countryside Management, Forestry and Arboriculture, Sports (Outdoor Adventure) and Wine and Viticulture.
