Geography - A Level at Hanley Castle High School

Course description

The course aims to enable students to become global citizens of the future, allowing them to view the world from a variety of perspectives. Students will develop a range of geographical skills such as observation and analysis through an array of topical issues, encompassing both the human and physical elements of geography. This will provide the opportunity for students to develop informed opinions and make decisions based upon a sound platform of knowledge.

Entry requirements

Minimum of Grade B at GCSE Geography is preferred. It is not essential to have studied GCSE Geography but it is highly recommended, and the student should demonstrate an enthusiasm and motivation to succeed in Geography.

Future opportunities

Geography is recognised as an important and academic subject by all places of work and higher education institutions. Students will develop a range of transferable skills relevant to a variety of professional vocations. Areas of further study or professions with a specific geographical focus could include: Meteorology, GIS, Town Planning, Conservation, Cartography and Surveying; in fact any area where the ability to analyse and interpret information is held in high regard.
