AAT Certificate in Accounting and Business Level 1 at Peterborough Regional College

Course description

The AAT is an established and well respected professional accountancy organisation with over 100,000 students, full and fellow members worldwide. The AATs qualifications develop relevant and practical accounting and finance skills which are ideal if you want to be an accountant or account technician.

This study programme is perfect for young people and those taking their first step on the career ladder. As well as getting a taster of what it's like to work in a professional environment, you'll pick up accounting terms and get additional support with literacy and numeracy. If you're looking to improve your prospects and earning potential in an accounting environment – and to get the rewards you deserve – this qualification is a great start!

Course content

During the one year course, the following modules will be covered: • Accounting in a professional environment • Creating business documents • Essential accounting procedures • Mathematics for accounting

Entry requirements

You will need at least GCSE grade E/2 including English and maths or equivalent and also basic competency in IT.


AAT Modules are assessed by either coursework or online exams. All exams are taken at the College.

Future opportunities

After successfully passing this course, you will be able to study for the AAT Accounting Level 2 qualification or Business Level 2. Alternatively, the AAT Accountancy Apprenticeship is available.

You will be required to attend a Welcome Event – details will be provided upon application. If you have other qualifications and/or relevant work experience, you will be fully considered to study for the course.
