Spanish - A Level at Northallerton College
In the first year you will study topics which include modern society and the cultural heritage of Spanish speaking countries. You will also study in depth the work of a Spanish filmmaker.
Students should have a minimum of a Grade B in Spanish at GCSE.
Independent listening and reading programmes are an integral part of the course. Lessons are conducted in the foreign language as far as possible and make use of authentic Spanish or Latin American material, including videos and newspaper articles.
A lot of universities offer students the opportunity to study Spanish alone, but also alongside a variety of subjects, such as law, business, linguistics or science. A modern language is also increasingly vital for employment, with major companies reporting a shortage of bilingual applicants.
