Computing & IT ITQ Level 2 Apprenticeship at Wigan & Leigh College

Course description

To meet employer demands, IT Users not only need increased levels of skills in basic desktop technology they also increasingly need to be skilled in security management and IT support processes and tools, and the use of communication and mobile technologies.

Course content

NVQ Level 2 in ITQ and English, Maths & ICT functional skills.

Entry requirements

No previous experience is required.


An experienced assessor will carry out training and assessments in the workplace. Learners will collect work based in a portfolio that is then assessed to the criteria at the relevant level.

On successful completion you may have the opportunity to progress on to the Advanced Apprenticeship.

Further information

You must be employed within a relevant occupation. You can start an Apprenticeship at any time of the year but you must have left school. Distance learning packages are available via the college VLE. Delivery is flexible at a time to suit the learner and employers needs.

    • Our Parson's Walk Centre houses a wide range of vocational courses and provides a unique and exciting atmosphere.

      The Centre features the award winning Wheel restaurant, together with other outstanding facilities that provide hands on work experience including the Image Centre, Florist Shop and Travel Shop.

      In addition, our classrooms offer a comfortable and professional working environment which is exemplified by our £20,000 state-of-the-art Apple Mac suite.

      This Centre also houses the College's largest Learning Resource Centre to provide help and support to all students in the use of the library and IT facilities. Our dedicated team of staff are on hand to provide assistance with electronic books and databases, information skills and one-to-one sessions. Laptops, iPads and Samsung tablets are just a selection of the range of facilities available.

      This Centre is completed with our Employment Services team who are here to offer you a personal information, advice and guidance session to identify areas of development and agree goals to set you on your path to gaining employment.
